Due to favorable circumstances I recently ended up with more time on my hands.  When this opportunity came up I thought I would work the property more, go hiking more frequently, do a little writing, that kind of stuff. All of which I like doing but what has consumed me with all this free time, and it surprises me, is writing.  Reflecting on this turn of events I realized that my job consumed me. If I wasn’t at work, I was preparing for work, recovering from work, and catching up on things that I couldn’t do because I had to go to work. My head was in a fog, and I never realized how bad it was. When the change in my work hours finally arrived, I literally could feel the fog clearing. I would be posting my usual snarky comments on the forums I belong to, or PM’ing my friends, and would find the words kept coming and coming. Pretty soon my post’s and pm’s were getting out of hand, so I started putting them in a journal on my computer. Before I knew it my journal entries were getting longer and more fictionalized than my usual observational style. As I was pm’ing a friend back and forth about this turn of events she suggested a blog and gave me some tips on getting started. She did not tell me about word press, I found that on my own, after sifting through approximately a bazillion blogs, not reading them but looking at their format, layout etc. Time after time, I noticed that the one’s I liked most seemed to come from wordpress.com. So here I am, I’ll get to posting real stuff soon. Am picking and choosing, don’t just want to post every dumb little thing I’ve ever jotted down, although I reserve the right to do so if I so choose. I did say in my  blog description “Purely Selfish,” and I’m sticking to that.
